Title: ASHRAE 199 — The New Standard for Testing Dust Collection Equipment
Description: In 2016, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) created Standard 199. Standard 199 details a comprehensive, thorough and detailed method for testing the performance of industrial dust collectors being cleaned using pulse jet technologies. This is the first time a definitive test method has been identified for the dust collection industry. The ASHRAE Standard was written by industry professionals and applies to bag, cartridge, or envelope style industrial dust collectors that clean the filter media by using a pulse of compressed air to discharge the dust cake from the filter media while the air cleaning device remains online. This technical presentation will discuss an overview of the standard as well as the six testing stages. The presenter will discuss what each of these test stages signifies, and the benefits of understanding the results of each of the test stages. The industry can then use these results to compare the various companies that supply this equipment.
